Ayurveda and Marma Therapy

Ayurveda, literally translated as “The Science of Life”, is a system of medicine that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. A sister science to yoga, Ayurveda offers invaluable tools for good health. Its premise is simple, live in accordance with natural law. Ayurveda places great emphasis on preventative medicine and building immunity. It is easier to maintain than regain. Knowledge of Ayurveda gives us the opportunity to take responsibility for our own health.

The marmani are points on the body where concentrated life force energy is located. Marma Therapy began its major role in Ayurveda in the context of panchakarma, the Ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation process. Marma therapy encourages deep relaxation, facilitates the release of stagnate energy, and is a balancing treatment for the body, mind, and soul.

In this course, we begin with the basics of Ayurveda, and what living in accordance with natural law means. You will discover your own unique constitution at the time of your birth and learn to assess through the lens of Ayurveda. Then we delve into Marma Therapy, covering the major marmani on the front and back of the body. Finally, we will explore ways to integrate and customize Marma Therapy with massage.

This class is taught by Leila G. von Stein. $225, 2 days, 16 hours, 16 CEUs, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Class also available to those who are not massage therapists. Please contact us for details.
